1. Ask yourself What's in it For Me?
Would your
motivation be self-development, career progression, more pay or a
combination of those?
2.
Prioritise your study materials and make sure you have all the
stationery you need.
3. Prepare an
area at home to work at.
It needs to be
somewhere quiet. Make sure that it is always organized as you would
like it. You might be someone who needs paperwork all over the desk
to be effective! Or you might like a clear desk.
4. If using
the computer for studying, get rid of any games!
A 5-minute
break playing games can lead to 1-2 hours!
5. If you
like classical music all the better.
It is said
that this helps to study more effectively. Keep the television
turned off!
6. Get
support from your family and friends.
Make sure they
are aware of your needs to study at a certain time of the day and
that you do not wish to be distracted.
7. Don't make
up excuses for not taking the time to study.
E.g. paint the
outside of the house, gardening etc. It's easily done!
8. Enjoy
planned quality time for yourself.
9. Remember
the saying 'No pain, No gain'.
Having said
that once you are organized and studying is part of your daily
routine, it is not such a painful experience.
10. And
finally, enjoy your studies, the new skills learned and using them.
